Biles shared the news of her engagement with Jonathan Owens, a football player for the Houston Texans, on Instagram. The happy couple shared the news on February 15, 2022, on Instagram with a carousel of heartwarming photos of their proposal. It’s clear to see that Biles is thrilled about her now-fiancé and her stunning ring.
“THE EASIEST YES,” Biles wrote on Instagram Tuesday morning. Her caption “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ” is complete with a diamond engagement ring emoji.
Jonathan Owens posted “Woke up this morning with a fiancée” on his Instagram Tuesday morning with the same pictures as Biles.
Owens commented on Biles’ post saying, “Ready for forever with you.”
All About Their Relationship
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are the definition of a power couple. Biles is a seven-time Olympic medalist for gymnastics and Owens currently plays safety for the Houston Texans.
The couple reportedly met in March 2020 right before the pandemic sent Americans into lockdown. The couple connected when Biles sent Owens a message on social media. Biles, a Houston native, and Owens started hanging out in the months following.
They publicly confirmed their relationship in August 2020 by sharing a picture on Instagram. Since then, the couple has been relatively public about their relationship. Biles frequently supports Owens by attending Houston Texans games and he was an adamant supporter of hers during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
“Imma ride with you through whatever baby,” Owens posted after Biles shared that she would no longer continue competing for the United States during the 2021 Olympics. “Your strength and courage is unmatched and you inspire me more and more everyday SB.”
All About the Heartwarming Proposal
While we don’t know a ton of details about their proposal, we can see a few clues from the pictures that Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens posted.
According to their posts, Biles wore a black bodycon mini dress and black Yves Saint Laurent heels. She sported a classic white manicure that looks stunning in the pictures of her new ring, which features an oval-cut diamond.
Owens wore a sharp gray suit with a black turtleneck underneath. He completed the look with black leather sneakers before dropping to one knee to propose.
We can also see that their proposal took place in a gazebo. In his Instagram post, Owens tagged their location: Houston, Texas. He also shared that the proposal was a complete surprise and that Biles didn’t see it coming!
All About the Ring
The star of the show? Simone Biles’ diamond ring from celebrity jeweler Zo Frost. The dazzling engagement ring features an oval-shaped diamond set among a delicate diamond band. There’s also a hidden halo detail along the side of the center diamond’s setting.
Owens worked directly with Frost to create the perfect engagement ring for Biles. He hand-picked the perfect diamond for Simone to sit at the center of the ring and specially requested the delicate pavé band to surround the oval-shaped diamond.
“Jonathan has been a client and friend for a few years and I had the pleasure of helping him to create this very special ring,” Frost told Page Six.
The diamond itself is a 3-carat oval diamond with F color and VVS2 clarity. This means that the diamond is very clear and has almost no inclusions.
Zo Frost is also from the Houston area like Biles and Owens. Frost has worked with several famous artists (including rappers Drake and Young Thug) and athletes (such as Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball and Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson).
